Hi, I'm Brodie Evans, PhD.Skilled in training and capacity building, supervision, research, program design and development.

I am an experienced leader in the domestic violence field, specialising in interventions with men using violence. I have experience in program management, curriculum design, group facilitation, providing clinical supervision, and leading a state-wide Community of Practice. Alongside over 10 years experience conducting social and criminal justice research and university teaching, I am skilled to present and consult on a broad array of issues of gender, masculinities, domestic violence, LGBTIQ+ inclusion, and activism..

Guest lecture and key note speech


I am available for guest lecturing and public speaking engagements on a range of social and criminal justice issues including domestic violence, and LGBTIQ+ diversity and inclusion. I have been a university lecturer, and have presented my own research at over 10 domestic and international conferences. I am comfortable presenting in-person or online.

Training and workshops

Queering practice: Foundations of working for and with LGBTIQA+ people in violence prevention and responses. The aim of this workshop is to create dialogue and reflection focused on working with and for LGBTIQA+ people and communities. Bringing together theory, practice, and lived experience, this workshop will assist practitioners in expanding knowledge to inform practice. It will invite practitioners to critically reflect on how their own marginalisation or privileges may show up in the work.
Working with men using violence. Bringing together theory, practice, and lived experience, this workshop will assist practitioners in strengthening their skills and understandings to inform direct service delivery working with persons using violence, primarily men who harm women and children.

Supervision


I have experience supervising teaching teams, group facilitators, staff, and student placements. I am currently available for external, clinical supervision for domestic violence practitioners and leaders. For those engaging in group work or other intervention with men who use violence, I am an experienced Senior Facilitator and qualified to observe and supervise in accordance with QLD's Perpetrator Intervention Service Requirements (2021). I will work with you in developing a supervision structure that works for your needs, including arranging live or recorded group observation if requested. My Supervision of practitioners working with persons using violence is guided by the Supervision Resource Guide, which I co-authored. I also deliver training on the use of this resource.

Consulting


I am available for consultation with your organisation on a range of issues. I have recently consulted with non-profit organisations to provide expertise on the design and development of perpetrator intervention group programs and individual counselling, evaluation design, as well as matters of LGBTIQ+ inclusion in domestic violence responses and prevention. I am interested in assisting organisations in developing and assessing intersectional and evidence-based approaches to domestic and family violence system responses.

Facilitation - DFV intervention 'behaviour change' groups


I am an experienced Senior Facilitator in accordance with QLD's Perpetrator Intervention Service Requirements (2021). I have completed comprehensive facilitator training including:
• 'Duluth' Creating a Process of Change for Men Who Batter, Gold Coast, 2019, 3-days.
Essential Skills in Men's Behaviour Change, NSW Health, Tweed Heads, 2019, 5-days.
S.A.F.E Accountable Facilitator Education, Sicura, Logan, 2022, 4-days.
I have also completed the Safe & Together Core Training, and numerous other domestic violence professional development to ensure my practice skills remain current and evidence-informed. As a leader and trainer, I remain passionate about practicing what I preach! I can facilitate online for regional and remote services, or in-person to services in South East Queensland, on a sub-contracted basis.
